The shape of a day charter

Every day charter departs from Palamós marina with a skipper on board as standard. The exact vessel — a sailing yacht, catamaran or motor yacht between 12 and 20 metres — is sourced on request and confirmed once your dates are fixed, so the boat matches your group size and the conditions expected that day.

Fuel and marina costs are handled on your behalf and settled either through the APA or by direct agreement before departure, so there's nothing to arrange once you're aboard. If you want catering beyond water and a few snacks, mention it when you enquire about your Palamós day trip yacht and we'll confirm it with the charter.

Skippered day sailing on the Costa Brava follows a plan agreed with your skipper on the morning of departure, weighing wind and swell against what you want to see — a swim stop near the Medes Islands, a run along the Begur coves, or a longer reach toward Cap de Creus.

Half-day option

A half-day outing is available where a full day isn't needed — tell us when you enquire and we'll confirm timing and the rate for the yacht you have in mind.

How a day charter runs

  1. 01

    Enquiry and confirmation

You send your date, group size and preferred yacht type, and we confirm the vessel and day rate before you book.

  2. 02

    Boarding at Palamós

You board at Palamós marina in the morning, where the skipper briefs you on the day's plan and safety aboard.

  3. 03

    Route set with your skipper

Together you choose a heading — toward the Medes Islands, along the Cap de Creus coastline, or a shorter loop around the Begur bays — based on wind and what you want to see.

  4. 04

    Return to the marina

The yacht is back at Palamós by early evening, with the exact return time agreed on the day depending on the route.

What's on the day rate

A skipper is included on every day charter, handling navigation, mooring and safety for the whole outing.

Fuel for the planned route is covered within the day rate, whatever heading you and the skipper agree on.

Marina and mooring fees

Marina charges at departure and any mooring fees along the way are included, not added afterwards.

Onboard catering

Extra requests for your group

Anything specific to your day — dietary requirements, an extra stop, a later return — is agreed directly with us before departure.

Questions about the day charter

How many hours does a day charter from Palamós cover?

A full day typically runs from late morning to early evening, around eight hours afloat including a swim stop. The exact start and finish time is set with your skipper the morning of departure, based on the route.

Is a half-day yacht charter available on the Costa Brava?

Yes, a half-day charter of around four hours can be arranged where a full day isn't needed. Let us know at enquiry stage and we'll confirm timing and rate for the yacht you have in mind.

How many guests can the yacht take for a day trip?

Guest numbers depend on the vessel confirmed for your date — typically 8 to 12 on a sailing yacht or catamaran, with higher capacity on a motor yacht. Tell us your group size when you enquire so we can match the right boat.

What happens if the weather turns during the day?

Your skipper checks the forecast that morning and adjusts the route or timing to keep the day comfortable, favouring sheltered water such as the Begur bays if the tramontana picks up. If conditions rule out going out altogether, we'll agree a new date with you.

Can we choose between the Medes Islands and Cap de Creus for the day?

Yes — the heading is decided with your skipper on the day, weighing distance, wind and what you'd rather see. Both are reachable within a single day's outing from Palamós, though a longer stretch toward Cap de Creus leaves less time anchored.
